with black Kraken ink
The Illustrated Man grinds
tales into my skin.
near the cusp of the
ceaseless salt lake, we’re tucked in
a mariner’s cove,
coven tacked up with
bamboo bones of sea-bleached-blonde
driftwood. Our hut hugs
the undulating
navy ribbon; Just This Close
like a bruised lover.
Wait, says the drawn Man.
We Wait. dazzle-dappled tides
lap as we sip rum.
soon the careless Crone’s
throat gapes, swallowing stories
at the speed of time
I would love to hear your comments/advise on my thoughts/experiences (oneandnone.wordpress.com).
Thank you 🙂

Interesting way of story telling. like the last line a lot though. Swallowing stories at the speed of time, nice finish.

Thank you for reading and your feedback! It was just a little ditty I spun out when I couldn’t sleep. I’m happy you liked the last line, though.

Juliet – I love this. Sometimes the most creative thoughts arrive in the quiet night hours – so happy you took the time to catch this.
I found your blog through a “discover” link by Michelle W – and I reading your other posts I wasn’t sure what I could add. But reading “Swallow” – I’m intrigued and re-reading and finding more – I love some of the word changes – cove to coven, and sounds b-b-b-b and the ssss like the ebb and flow of the sea over stone.

Love black kraken ink. Mysterious, dark, evocative.
